In 2004 ROBO-GARAGE debuted Chroino, a remote controlled programmable robot created by Tomotaka Takahashi. Chroino has an advanced carbon/plastic frame, and the ability to walk without the bent knees characteristic of other humanoid robots. To do so it uses software developed at Osaka University called SHIN-walk. The style of this robot, and others produced by ROBO-GARAGE, is a conscious effort to match real-world robots to the visionary designs common in Japanese animation and science fiction.
"Till now, the emphasis in robot development has been on the machine's inner workings. But I start from outside details like how the robot will move and what it will look like. My approach is to create robots with a clear identity." ? Tomotaka Takahashi
